At Sloyan Doyle, we have always understood that recycling makes both good business and environmental sense and it has formed a major part of our business since our formation in 1964.
We look to re-use or recycle as much as possible of the materials found on our sites. This includes all masonry, concrete, reinforcement, steel and other metals, plasterboard, wood and green waste. Currently our sites recycle an average of over 95% of the wastes produced, rising to 99% on some sites.
In addition, we tightly control wastes arising from our other activities, including recycling of office wastes and re-use of waste oils from our plant and vehicles.
Since 1993, we have operated one of the largest dedicated aggregates recycling centres in the North. This allows us to maintain stockpiles of up to 120,000 tonnes of concrete, brick and other materials at any time, processing them to produce a variety of high quality products, tailored to our clients’ specifications. These include:
Our products are produced in accordance with our own NQA certified Quality Assurance system and also with the Waste Resource Action Programme (WRAP) Quality Protocol.
As well as recycling on our fixed site, we operate mobile crushing and screening plant, which allows us to undertake high quality recycling operations on our demolition sites (for example where aggregates are required for follow-on construction works). Again, the aggregates produced comply with QA and WRAP quality standards.
